What is Container Storage?

What is Container Storage?

Container storage is a secure storage system used by removals companies to reduce handling of customer goods. The containers are large wooden crates that can be lifted onto a specialist removals vehicle, taken to the customer’s property, loaded, sealed and returned to the warehouse for storage.

Each storage container has a unique number, which is logged by the removals company when it is loaded, (empty) onto the removals truck and assigned to the customer’s account. As the container is filled at the collection address, each item is added to an inventory list (which is required for storage insurance) and the container number recorded.

Once the container is full, it can be sealed, returned to the warehouse and stored securely, without any need for further handling of the contents until delivery.

This system reduces the risk of damage to your goods because they are only being handled twice. It also allows removals companies to offer more competitive quotes as they are not required to input so much physical labour to bring your goods into and out of storage.
