Tips On Selecting A Trusted Removal Company

Tips On Selecting A Trusted Removal Company

Choosing the ideal removal company to handle your most valuable possessions is certainly not an easy task.

Unless you have very few things to move or a lot of time at your disposal, you will need a company to help you move your personal effects. It calls for a lot of organising, moving and rearranging the contents of your home. As such having a trusted removal company will indeed save you a lot of headaches.

This article points out some important things to do when choosing a removal company.

Start Early

Waiting until the last minute will only lead you to make a hasty decision and you are likely to end up with a company that is not reputable in your area. It can take two weeks to get recommendations and quotes, and once you have selected a company, it can take a few other weeks before you find a date. So, begin your hunt at least two months before your planned moving date. Planning ahead increases your chances of choosing the right company for you.

Ask For Recommendations

If you know of any colleagues, friends or relatives who have recently relocated, you may want to ask them about their experience. What company did they use and would they recommend them? If they did not like them, what and who would they recommend? The more you ask about their experience, the better you will be prepared to analyse removal companies.

Check Some Testimonials and Reviews

Testimonials and reviews are an excellent source of information, but you should take some of them with a grain of salt. Read those that contain detailed information and try to avoid those that are too general. Also, look for reviews made by people who actually used the service and avoid those written by the company.

Vet the Company

It is important to estabish that the company you intend to use has the ideal insurance and is a member of a an association such as The Association of Independent Movers. These associations have a code of conduct as well as requirements for membership. When your mover is a member of such an association, you can be more confident that you are getting a company that is trustworthy.

Negotiate On the Price

If there's a company you would like to work with, but they are quite pricey, you may want to consider negotiating. Most movers are willing to fight for you, and by negotiating, you may be able to save some money. However, do not go in with unrealistic expectations about what you can get through the negotiation.

If the company you are considering has the highest quote, do not expect them to lower the price enough to make them the lowest, and also check you have also asked all movers to quote for exactly the same services. Always check each quotation in detail as the more expensive companies maybe offering extra insurance, extra packing materials or using more manpower so technically offering a higher level of service.

Choosing a mover can be quite challenging. However, by taking your time, doing some research and using this guide, you can make the procedure a bit easier. The right removal company will pack, move and unpack your things in a careful and professional manner.

They ideally have protection if anything goes wrong. If you are looking for a removal company, you may want to consider a member of the Association of Independent Movers (AIM). As earlier mentioned, they have a code of conduct and stringent requirements for a moving company to join them. That ascertains that the movers are reputable and trustworthy.
